There is a Canadian connection to the old Kai Take Airport. During WW2, Canadian POWs under the Japanese invaders, expanded the airport. But the Canadians sabotaged the project by mixing too much sand into the tarmac. When a Japanese official arrived and his plane crashed killing him, the Japanese officer in charge of construction was beheaded.

When you go out on Sunday, the crowd of people sitting all over the place aren't squatters or protesters. They are the domestic workers from the Philippines on their day off. If stop to have lunch or a snack where they are, a local security guard will shoo you away.

I've been to HK too often and the locals always say there is nothing to see. Typical of residences. When you go out, pack a day's supply of toilet paper. Bring your own portable stool because there are no sitting places in shopping malls. (That's why it's so challenging to find an over weight Chinese.). A good buffet restaurant is Charter House but the locals call it Chatter House. When you are walking on a busy main Street, careful when you take a detour into a small side street. They are where the street butchers are where you can get fresh fish, pork, chicken etc. Watch your step.
