Fuel's something like human record is production Heaven. Its hard to fault. i would have loved to be a fly in the wall during the making and mixing.

Great video again! Did you say you had interviewed Cameron Webb?

Eminem used to use that room and sleep under the desk ? lol

All these amazing master studio guy's. And they still use NS10's ? its soo funny.
I sware if i was given them to work on, even at the time when they were all it. I sware i would say after half hour. NO THANK YOU. These are horrid. 10db at 3K and no bass ? What ? Ive even used the modern day yammy's HS8's and they are still very harsh. -
I love Ben's work and this was a great interview. Thanks Ben and Warren!

Really dig Ben's mixes, they really just sound right, and by no means should that term detract from the greatness. Sound so great. Am wondering if there are any recent mixes where we could hear the Neve 2254 on the stereo buss doin its thang. Its one of my fav compressors on masterbus however i have had very limited times where i have actually got it to work because of the limited parameters, but when it works it works like nothing else. Ps I should state that I have only used the emulation, Waves etc

Is that Pong being played on the Console matrix?

Guys you should check out Voodoosix, if your looking for a class rock act. They are on tour in Europe with Steve Harris' British Lion and have previously toured with Iron Maiden in Europe!!!!

Is there a gate on the video audio? Something sounds.. off. And thank you very much for the videos!

Monitors on their sides and no equilateral triangle? Are these guidelines bogus?

Great interview as always! That damn pong demo on the SSL just hypnotized me. Sometimes I had to rewind the video because I was missing what was being said. haha

About the sugested workaround (44:15) to flip the phase at every
second track to get rid of that 12kHz tone:
Am I wrong when I say that this will not solve the problem?
I’m thinking: When you make stamps, with or without MTC/SMPTE sync, you do a
realtime mixdown of track one, for example. This time the music starts at the moment
where that 12k is at his zero crosspoint. After this is done, you make a stamp
of track two, but this time the music starts at the moment where the 12k is at
his maximum amplitude. The result is that you have a phaseshift of 90 degrees at
that 12k tone while the music is in sync. When you flip the phase in this case,
that 12k tone doesn’t cancel itself away. It’s worth to try, but I guess that
this will not work.
What I should do in this case is using an EQ with a very
narrow bandwidth and cut the 12k away on every track. It maybe can help more or
less to, again, using a very narrow bandpassfilter
at 12k on an insert of a track, then capture it in Melodyne. After that you
manually delete every piece of musical information as best as you can and then
flip the phase of that track against the original track. Or maybe with the
Melodyne Studio version, it’s possible to visualize the 12k perfectly and
delete it instantly. Dunno if it will work either… Somebody wants to try?? -
It's just mind boggling to me the amount of NS-10's in these professional studios. I mean he has a pair in every room here! I know it's because everyone knows how they sound so they can work with them no matter the studio. But as they become harder and harder to come by what will become the standard in newer studios or what about us younger guys that have no chance to find a pair of NS-10's and have no idea what they even sound like lol

Hi Warren, great video. If you could please go into detail about side-chaining the mix buss compressor for printing stems, that would be a terrific tutorial. I think I read Michael Brauer talking about that once, and I'd love to apply it to my work. Thanks so much!

That quote is by Picasso.

What are stems that were referred to multiple times in this video?
