Your manifesto,...I love it!!!!
-
He makes good tracks, great tracks even. But let's be honest, if his manifesto was followed to a T, then we would be without some of the greatest music ever created. So quite frankly it's pretty nonsensical.
-
I was talking about that manifesto. I love the speech. Very much
-
understood!!. No more open minding
-
Not many people talk like this about music
-
You can stroke your beard philosophize all you want, but at the end of the day is the music anything that anybody would want to listen to?
-
"Ramblings of a tortured soul" wow... that level of ignorance is astounding. I find this approach to music so refreshing. Yes some of the topics of conversation, death and war are depressing, but these are issues that are ignored by 99% of artists and the music industry as a whole, is THAT not depressing? Matthew's message seems clear to me, let's stop focusing on making money, and start making music that means something.

super interesting

I've seen Matthew Herbert perform once at the Hollywood Bowl. And he was great. This however, seems to take all the joy out of making music. I understand the manifesto and trying to maintain a sense of creativity, but this is just the ramblings of a tortured soul. It's hard to want to listen to this kind of misery.

"interesting" ideas, but the actual music is awful.
-
Restrict the production and release of music? Get lost.
*Edit - I have to qualify that statement. That was one point I disagreed with, though 99% of everything else he said I wholeheartedly agree with* -
zzzz

the real deal.

For Matthew Herbert, constraint and narrowing of choices are the keys to creativity. In this talk with Shaun Curtis, the veteran UK producer delves into the personal necessity and implications of his manifesto, and explores both previous and current work that he’s making under its guidelines.
