People I know would often complain that this type of music didn't belong in a movie that took place in the 20's, saying it was "unrealistic". In my opinion, it captures the young and adventurous atmosphere young rich people felt back then pretty well.

I know the song but does this kanye/ jayz remix version have a name?

This would have been better if they didn't use modern music. I enjoy the idea that a small party happened in the room, but with this music and the era they are in it just doesn't fit. That's like playing the original lollipop song at a nightclub

It's not actually Flux Pavilion, it's the remix of it made by Kanye West and Jay Z for their Watch the Throne album (No Church in the Wild from the same album was also used in Great Gatsby). As for the movie - I guess it was a try to present Gatsby for young audiences; that's why this melancholic scene, for example, looks like some college comedy. and of course, Lurhman adores mixing music and historic marks for different ages since Romeo+Julliette. but in Gatsby it looks... really cheap and vulgar.

The music feels really out of place in this scene and not in like a cool way where the old and new are combining but in the weird way where it shouldn't be here in the first place lol
